LTCI BEST PRACTICE EXPECTATION (BPE) TOOLS
The LTCI’s best practice expectations (BPEs) are designed to improve medical care for residents, as well as to create positive change in the culture and systems of long-term care. To support physicians and care home teams in meeting the BPEs, we’ve created a toolkit with practical information, templates, and other useful resources for all six BPEs (listed below).

Proactive Visits to Residents
Daytime SBAR (Version 3, Dec 2021)
- Optional; not monitored by the LTCI
- This version includes a general 'Communicable Disease Screening' section recommended by Island Health - the same questions on the LTCI After-Hours SBAR form.
- May be used to communicate with a resident's MRP during daytime hours.
- DO NOT use for the LTCI After-Hours Call Line. Please refer to the After-Hours SBAR form specific to your area.
